Bastian Schweinsteiger is looking forward to getting his first taste of Manchester United's rivalry with Liverpool

Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to reveal his excitement ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Red Devils host Brendan Rodgers’ men looking to return to winning ways in the English top flight after they slumped to a surprise 2-1 loss to Swansea City in their most recent outing before the international break.

Liverpool head into the game level on points with United, with the Merseyside outfit having taken seven points from their opening four league games.

And Schweinsteiger, who joined United from Bayern Munich this summer, admits that he is relishing getting his first taste of the historic rivalry between the two sides.

The Germany international posted the picture above onto his personal Instagram account on Saturday afternoon and wrote: “A big game with a long history. Looking forward to playing against Liverpool this evening! #mufc”

Manchester United won both fixtures against Liverpool last season in the Premier League – sealing a 3-0 win at Old Trafford before a 2-1 win at Anfield.
