Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane tweets Alan Shearer after the England striker scores first goal in seven games

Harry Kane has revealed his goal-celebration inspiration is England legend Alan Shearer.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker had plenty of time to –ponder what his next celebration would be after the 22-year-old failed to score in his last seven games.

However, Kane netted his second strike for England in an emphatic 6-0 victory over San Marino as Roy Hodgson’s side booked their place at Euro 2016 next summer.

And the Spurs talisman took to Twitter to ask Shearer if he appreciated the striker’s tribute to Newcastle and England legend’s iconic goal salute.

And Shearer, who is a former England captain, responded with words of encouragement for Kane.

Kane has scored two goals in three appearances for the England national team after he made his debut against Lithuania at Wembley last year.

However, the Tottenham striker has some way to go to match Shearer’s return of 30 goals in 63 appearances for the Three Lions.

Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney equalled Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 goals on Saturday night.
