Wayne Rooney is looking forward to watching his Manchester United team-mates take on PSV Eindhoven
Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to reveal his disappointment at not being able to feature for Manchester United in their Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils captain has been ruled out of the group-stage opener due to an undisclosed injury he picked up in training last week, with the England striker also missing the 3-1 win over Liverpool at the weekend.
Rooney admits that he is “gutted” not to be able to feature for Louis van Gaal’s men as they look to get their Champions League campaign off to a winning start – but is backing his team-mates to pick up the three points.
Rooney posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon and wrote: “Good luck to the lads tonight against PSV in the Champions League. Gutted I can’t play but looking forward to watching a good performance!”
The England skipper will be hoping to make his return to action when United take on Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
