Piers Morgan hits out at Arsene Wenger again after Arsenal’s loss to Chelsea
Piers Morgan is not happy with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger at all...
Piers Morgan has once again underlined his dissatisfaction with Arsene Wenger in the wake of Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday.
The Gunners had Gabriel Paulista and Santi Cazorla both sent off as they were reduced to nine men at Stamford Bridge during a dramatic London derby.
Goals from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard wrapped up the three points for Jose Mourinho’s men in west London.
Much has been made of Arsenal’s failure to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window, with the Gunners only recruiting Petr Cech from Chelsea during the off-season.
And Arsenal shareholder Morgan has once again underlined his frustration at Wenger’s transfer dealings, claiming that he could have done a better job himself.
“I feel like the entire history of my life Arsenal have been fourth under Arsene Wenger,” Morgan said on BT Sport.
“We didn’t buy a single outfield player in the world because Arsene decided we don’t need one.
“I keep being asked, ‘who could do a better job?’ I could do a better job with this money. I’d have spent £100m on Benzema.
“Nothing is ever going to change under this Arsene Wenger. This one is not the same guy that was so brilliant in his first years at Arsenal.
“That was a natural-born killer who destroyed everything in his wake. This guy doesn’t mind finishing fourth.
“It has to be said, and Arsenal fans who continue to live in the ‘Wenger forever’ camp have to wake up and smell the latte.”
Arsenal return to action when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Gunners are currently five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
