Piers Morgan lifts lid on attempt to get John Terry to join Arsenal
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan reveals Chelsea captain John Terry said that he'd throw himself under a bus for Jose Mourinho
Piers Morgan has lifted the lid on his attempt to convince Chelsea captain John Terry to join Arsenal.
The former England international has endured a miserable start to the Premier League season after he was hauled by manager Jose Mourinho at half-time of their 3-0 defeat by Manchester City last month.
To compound the 34-year-old’s misery, Terry received a red card during Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns after he hauled down Salomon Randon in the second half.
And Morgan tried to convince Terry that Mourinho had made the centre-half a scapegoat for their poor start, but the Blues skipper refused to criticise the 52-year-old manager.
“I couldn’t do that. I could never play for any Premier League club other than Chelsea,” Terry is said to have told Morgan, according to Guardian Football Weekly.
“Jose’s the best manager I’ve ever had. I’d chuck myself under a bus for him.”
Chelsea won their fourth Premier League title last season.
The west London side have already lost to Manchester City and Crystal Palace in their opening four games of the Premier League campaign.
The Blues make the trip to Everton in their next top-flight game.
