Pochettino delivers latest Tottenham injury update ahead of Qarabag clash
Mauricio Pochettino confirms Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason are sidelined for two weeks
Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham Hotspur must be patient with injured midfielders Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason.
The England international was forced off minutes after he scored his late winner in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.
Bentaleb, meanwhile, wasn’t named in Pochettino’s matchday squad after the Algeria international picked up an ankle injury ahead of the Black Cats clash.
And the Spurs manager revealed that the defensive midfielder is set to be sidelined for two weeks, while urging Tottenham to be patient with Mason.
“Nabil Bentaleb is out maybe two weeks more. We need to assess him as well, have patience and the same with Ryan Mason,” Pochettino is quoted as saying at his pre-match media conference ahead of their Europa League opener against Qarabag.
Tottenham registered their first win of the Premier League season at Stadium of Light.
Spurs have lost just once in their last 17 European home games (W12 D4 L1).
Qarabag have made two previous visits to the British Isles; they won 2-1 away to Northern Irish side Portadown FC in 2010/11 Europa League qualifying, then lost 1-0 at Celtic in this season’s Champions League third qualifying round.
