Reported Arsenal and Man United target planning PSG exit
Ezequiel Lavezzi suggests that he will quit Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season
Ezequiel Lavezzi is expecting to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of the season after being linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.
The 30-year-old former Napoli star was linked with a summer move away from PSG, with Serie A side Juventus also reported to interested in securing the attacker’s signature – but a move failed to materialise.
Now, the Argentina international has revealed that this is likely to be his last season at PSG, in an admission that is sure to fuel the speculation linking him with a possible transfer to the Premier League.
Lavezzi told Telefoot: “The truth is I want to stay because I have a lot of faith in the team. This year we brought in players that really reinforced the team.
“I’m very happy for new signing Angel Di Maria, it’s always good to play with your friends. He is a great player, I hope he adapts quickly.
“I think it’s my last year in Paris. But I’m okay and I want to finish it the best way possible. You never know what can happen. Today I want to stay, tomorrow we’ll see.”
Arsenal, who beat Newcastle 1-0 last weekend, are currently sixth in the Premier League table after taking seven points from their opening four games. Manchester United are level on points with Arsene Wenger’s men in fifth place.
The Gunners return to top-flight action when they take on Stoke City at Emirates Stadium after the international break on 12 September.
