Robbie Fowler: Liverpool shouldn’t settle for a draw at Man United
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler says the Reds must not settle for a draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford
Robbie Fowler says Manchester United are under more pressure than Liverpool ahead of their clash at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
The Reds are level on points with Louis van Gaal’s side after having earned seven points from a possible 12 to start their Premier League season.
Am I confident that we’ll win? Not really, if I’m being totally honest, but I’m confident that we won’t lose
Liverpool suffered a shock 3-0 defeat by West Ham United in their most recent outing, whilst the Red Devils surrendered a losing position to lose 2-1 to Swansea City.
While former Liverpool striker Fowler is confident the Merseyside outfit won’t lose to United, the Reds legend urged Brendan Rodgers’s side not to settle for a draw.
Fowler told Liverpool Echo: “There’s more pressure on them, being the home team and having lost their last game.
“Am I confident that we’ll win? Not really, if I’m being totally honest, but I’m confident that we won’t lose.
“But I’m not one of these ex-players or pundits who says he’d be happy with a draw just because it’s Manchester United.
“For us as a club, we should be looking to get three points wherever we go in the world. Fingers crossed we get it this weekend.”
Liverpool legend Fowler scored six times against United during his playing career at the five-time European champions.
The former England international memorably scored a brace at Old Trafford as Liverpool drew 2-2 with United in 1996.
Rodgers’s side lost 3-0 to the Red Devils in this fixture last season.
