Rodgers delivers latest Liverpool injury update ahead of Norwich clash
Brendan Rodgers hints that Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson could return for Liverpool this weekend
Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge could play a part in Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Henderson has missed Liverpool’s last four games due to a heel injury which required injections during a medical trip to the United States this week.
Striker Sturridge, meanwhile has not played for the Merseyside outfit since May after undergoing hip surgery during the summer months.
However, Reds boss Rodgers had some positive news ahead of Sunday’s clash on Merseyside, revealing that the pair will have both been in training heading into the game.
Rodgers told a news conference at Melwood on Friday: “Jordan will train today, Daniel has been training with the team for a week or so, so will be assessed.
“We’ve got players hopefully coming back that will add to the squad and see us go on a run of games.
“A player who can get you 25-plus goals per season is going to be missed. Jordan’s impact has grown during my time here. When you miss players of that calibre, it’s going to have an impact.”
Liverpool head into Sunday’s clash looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Manchester United in their most recent outing at Old Trafford last weekend.
The Red are currently 10th in the table with seven points from their first five games.
