Santi Cazorla: Why I love playing with Francis Coquelin for Arsenal
Santi Cazorla admits that it is "amazing" for him to play alongside Francis Coquelin in Arsenal's midfield
Santi Cazorla has admitted that it is “amazing” for him to line up alongside Francis Coquelin in Arsenal’s midfield.
The duo played a key role for the Gunners on Saturday afternoon as Arsene Wenger’s men secured a 2-0 victory over Stoke City at Emirates Stadium to move up to third place in the Premier League table.
Coquelin has made the holding midfield position his own at Emirates Stadium since being drafted in by Wenger midway through last season.
And Spanish playmaker Cazorla admits that playing alongside the Frenchman makes it much easier for him to do his job.
Cazorla told Arsenal’s website: “It’s amazing playing with him. He’s helped me a lot. He plays well, he defends well and I think he’s one of the best players in this position.
“We are lucky because he plays for Arsenal and I enjoy it a lot with him in this position.”
Cazorla continued: “I feel better every game. The most important thing for me is always to help the team.
“I had an assist for Giroud and I had so many chances to score but the keeper made good saves.
“I feel good and I always want to help the team, that’s the most important thing for me.”
Arsenal return to action when they take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Wednesday night, before their crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners are currently third in the top flight table and five points behind early pace-setters Manchester City after five games.
