Theo Walcott backs Alexis Sanchez to flourish after Arsenal hat-trick

Theo Walcott is backing Alexis Sanchez to go on a run of goal-scoring form in the coming weeks

Theo Walcott is backing Alexis Sanchez to embark on a goal-scoring run for Arsenal after the Chilean netted a hat-trick in Saturday’s 5-2 win over Leicester City.

Sanchez had failed to find the net for the north London side before Saturday’s game but got off the mark in a stunning display for Arsene Wenger’s men at the King Power Stadium.

And Walcott, who himself scored the opener for the Gunners against the Foxes, believes that Sanchez, who netted 25 goals last season, is now set to go on a positive run for Arsenal.

Walcott told Arsenal’s website: “He is a top-quality player and even when he is not scoring goals he works so hard for us. He tracks back and does a lot for the team.

“I am sure he going to flourish now with many, many more important goals. It has been a long time coming, he knows that himself. But he is very pleased today.”

Walcott has now scored two top-flight goals for Arsenal so far this season to help the Gunners up to fourth place in the Premier League.

Arsenal return to Premier League action when they host Manchester United at Emirates Stadium next Sunday afternoon.

Before that, the Gunners take on Olympiacos in the Champions League group stage at their home ground.
