Thierry Henry: Why Arsenal have a little hope in title race
The Arsenal legend says Man City losing last weekend should spur on the Gunners
Thierry Henry says Arsenal can take a little hope in the Premier League title race after Manchester City lost to West Ham United last weekend.
The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat by defending champions Chelsea in last Saturday’s early kick-off, but Arsene Wenger’s side didn’t lose ground on the leaders after City lost 3-1 to the Hammers.
I still think they’re going to be challenging. Are they going to be winning it? I don’t know
The north London side, who were touted as potential Premier League winners before the start of the season, are five points behind Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Former Arsenal striker Henry refused to rule the FA Cup winners out of the title race, although the France international admitted that he expects City to win the top-flight crown.
Henry told Sky Sports: “I would have been more worried if Man City had won against West Ham, but they didn’t. It gives a little hope after the loss against Chelsea.
“Things can happen in this league, as we all know. Nobody would have thought West Ham would go to Anfield, the Emirates and the Etihad and win.
“I still think they’re going to be challenging. Are they going to be winning it? I don’t know. I think I still see City being up there at the end of the season.”
Arsenal make the trip to high-flying Leicester City at King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have won three of their opening six Premier League games this season.
