Three reasons why Cesc Fabregas must improve for Chelsea

Three reasons Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas needs to rekindle his best form for the Premier League champions

A shadow of his former self

When Cesc Fabregas signed for Chelsea, it not only pleased Blues supporters but also left Arsenal fans wondering why they did not re-sign the talented midfielder. The chances he created in the first half of last term saw him almost equal the tally of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in one season. However, he seems to have faded away in recent games and has not produced the moments of magic that many are accustomed to seeing. The ex-Barcelona man has left Blues fans questioning whether he should even start the club’s next match against Everton. Fabregas was an important figure in Chelsea’s Premier League title last season. He must improve or be faced with dropping to the bench.

Lacking creativity

Fabregas racked up 18 assists last season, but with substandard performances in the first four matches of this Premier League campaign, unfortunately for him, the stats don’t lie. The Spaniard managed to average three chances per match last season but he has only been able to create five across his four matches in a Blues shirt this term. His teammates that are playing in front of him are also not on fine form. However, some believe that Fabregas should be the one dictating the game and pulling the strings of the match from the midfield. He’ll need to find the form he had from last season if Chelsea are to rekindle their best performances that made them the champions last season.

His second half of the season form has continued into the new season

There were a lot of reports suggesting that Fabregas always struggles in the second half of the season. With Fabregas struggling with his performances at the start of this campaign, it can certainly be suggested that he has now gone several months without being at his normal brilliant best. Fabregas needs to find his flair and skills that makes him one of Premier League’s best midfielders. If he doesn’t, he could find himself out of managers Jose Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming games of the season. The 28-year-old was at the heart of their winning ways last season and Chelsea fans are hoping he can become that man once again.
