Reds eye return to winning ways

After a crushing defeat to West Ham at home, Liverpool will be looking to pick themselves back up and gain another three points in the league. Before West Ham, Simon Mingolet had not conceded a goal in the first three games of the season and it looked as though Liverpool had started in fine form. However, the dream all came crashing down at Anfield when West ham defeated them 3-0. Manager Brendan Rodgers will want to make sure this does not happen again. After losing twice to Manchester United last season, the Reds will have to pull an exceptional performance out the bag to gain all three points. They are also without their star man Phillipe Coutinho as he is serving a one-match suspension. However, Rodgers will be backing his players to seal a result against Louis van Gaal’s men nonetheless.

Danny Ings starting debut

Danny Ings impressed many when he was playing for Burnley last season. The striker scored 11 goals and he will certainly want to impress on his first starting match for Liverpool. It has been reported that Ings is poised to start up front with Christian Benteke and this deadly strike duo could cause United problems all evening. Ings made a summer transfer switch to Anfield and has yet to find the back of the net. Starting against United at Old Trafford could certainly kick-start his momentum. The 23-year-old also scored at Old Trafford last season, when he netted a smart diving header. He could provide the confidence boost that Liverpool need for Saturday.

The battle of the revival

There is still something that is special about this fixture. It is a battle to rebuild the fading empire that once was. Rodgers will be keen to beat Van Gaal after United sealed all six points in the League against Liverpool last season. Van Gaal said he was to blame for the Swansea defeat and will be keen to restore winning ways come Saturday. However, United still have a weakness that The Reds can exploit. Benteke and Ings are two powerhouse strikers and they can easily win the aerial duels to seal the win for Liverpool. United are still playing Daley Blind in central defence and while he has impressed in recent games, he unravelled against a fast-paced Swansea. It is the battle of which team can come out the strongest and on top. And Liverpool can edge it on Saturday at Old Trafford.
