Mauricio Pochettino speaks of his admiration for Arsene Wenger ahead of Tottenham's clash with Arsenal
Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of his admiration for Arsene Wenger as his Tottenham side prepare to host Arsenal in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Spurs welcome their bitter local rivals to White Hart Lane as they look to register a victory over the Gunners in the two sides’ first meeting of the new season.
And Pochettino admits that he is full of respect for his Arsenal counterpart.
Pochettino told a news conference on Tuesday: “I respect (Arsene). He’s a great manager. I admire him because he’s in charge for maybe 18 years or 19 years, and he has real talent.
“It’s not easy to stay at the same club for a long time.”
Spurs head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane, which moved them onto nine points and just one behind their local rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners, meanwhile, suffered a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in controversial circumstances, as Gabriel Paulista and Santi Cazorla were both sent off.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table and five points behind early leaders Manchester City.
