US Open 2015: Andy Murray among three Brits eyeing round three
Andy Murray is expecting a tough test against Adrian Mannarino in the second round of the US Open
Andy Murray is expecting a tough battle as the British number one and two of his compatriots bid to reach the third round of the US Open.
Third seed Murray will take on Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, ranked 35th in the world, on Arthur Ashe at approximately 20:00 BST.
The 27-year-old saw off the challenge of Nick Kyrgios in his first round match, and while Mannarino might not carry the same profile Murray is not taking anything for granted.
“He’s a tricky player,” said the Scot, who won their only previous encounter in Indian Wells earlier this year.
“He’s a lefty. He hits the ball extremely flat off both sides and has very short, compact swings, excellent timing.
“He’s quick, a good athlete with very good hands. He’s a talented guy.”
First in action is Jo Konta, who will be looking to record a 15th straight win against Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza from 16:00 on court 17.
And following Konta on court 17 straight afterwards is Aljaz Bedene who plays American Donald Young who upset Gilles Simon in round one.
“I played Donald three years ago in Vienna and I beat him, so I know what to expect,” said Bedene. “We’ll see if I can get my game onto the court.”
