Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from the US Open women's singles after suffering a concussion
Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from the US Open women’s singles after suffering a concussion.
The 21-year-old had already pulled out of the women’s and mixed doubles, but had hoped to be able to play in the fourth round of the singles.
Her decision means that Italy’s unseeded Roberta Vinci advances to the quarter-finals.
A tournament statement said Bouchard “slipped and fell in the locker room and sustained a head injury” on Friday.
