Walcott and more: Arsenal and Liverpool stars react to Rooney’s record goal

Theo Walcott and Jordan Henderson take to Twitter after Man United striker Wayne Rooney scores record 50th England goal

Jordan Henderson and Theo Walcott took to Twitter to congratulate Wayne Rooney on his record-breaking 50th England goal on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time record with his 50th goal for the Three Lions at the home of English football after Harry Kane broke the deadlock with his third goal in four games for his national team.

Unsurprisingly, a host of England’s current stars took to Twitter to wish Rooney congratulations after his impressive feat after the 2-0 Euro 2016 qualifier win over Switzerland.

Arsenal striker Theo Walcott sends a message to his captain:

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson keeps his message short and sweet:

Rooney’s Manchester United team-mate Michael Carrick is thrilled to see the striker break Sir Bobby Charlton’s record:

Tottenham star Kane gets a tad nostalgic with his Twitter message for Rooney:

Another England youngster Raheem Sterling makes sure to send his congratulations to his skipper:

Finally, Rooney’s former England team-mate Jamie Carragher rounds off the Twitter celebrations:
