Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update after Leicester win
Arsene Wenger says Francis Coquelin could return to action when Arsenal take on Olympiacos on Tuesday
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Francis Coquelin could be back available for selection when Arsenal take on Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The French midfielder has missed Arsenal’s last two games with a knee injury picked up in the first half of the Gunners’ 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
However, Wenger says that Coquelin could be available for Arsenal’s Champions League clash at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Speaking after Arsenal’s emphatic 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday, Wenger told his post-match news conference: “Coquelin could be available for Tuesday.
“Today we lost Mathieu Flamini and the only one that could come back is Coquelin and Gabriel is not suspended.”
The Arsenal boss also confirmed that midfielder Mathieu Flamini had to be substituted with a hamstring injury early in the first half against Leicester City.
Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead in the 13th minute but Theo Walcott equalised when Leicester were caught on the break.
Sanchez then scored in the 33rd, 57th and 81st minute to put the result beyond doubt as Vardy pulled one back before substitute Olivier Giroud netted a fifth late on.
