Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Olympiacos clash
Arsene Wenger reveals that Francis Coquelin is back in training after the Arsenal midfielder's knee injury
Francis Coquelin is back in training and could be included in the Arsenal squad to face Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Arsene Wenger has said.
The French midfielder has not featured for the Gunners since suffering a knee injury during the 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
Coquelin sat out Saturday’s 5-2 win over Leicester City, and Wenger hinted that he could be available for Tuesday’s clash at Emirates Stadium.
Wenger also confirmed that midfielder Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta will both miss out due to injury.
Wenger told a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Monday afternoon: “Coquelin is back training but we will see. Arteta and Flamini are not available.”
Arsenal are looking to return to winning ways in Europe’s elite club competition after suffering a 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in their group opener earlier this month.
The Gunners then turn their attentions towards welcoming Premier League leaders Manchester United to Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
