Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Leicester clash
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest Arsenal team news ahead of Saturday's trip to Leicester City
Francis Coquelin is set to miss Arsenal’s trip to Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The French midfielder was forced off at half-time during the Gunners’ 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend after suffering a knee injury in the London derby.
Coquelin sat out Wednesday night’s 2-1 League Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur due to the problem, but Wenger has revealed that the midfielder is making good progress in his recovery.
Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Friday morning, Wenger said: “Coquelin is improving well but will not be available. He might start practising tomorrow.”
The Arsenal boss also revealed that Jack Wilshere’s surgery on a broken leg was a success and that the north London side are expecting to have him back available for selection in December.
He added: “Wilshere has had his operation. It went well [and he will be] back in December, Christmas.”
Arsenal, who have lost two top-flight games this season, head into Saturday’s game five points behind early leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table.
