Ander Herrera heaps praise on Man Utd star after Everton win

Ander Herrera was full of kind words for Wayne Rooney on Saturday afternoon

Ander Herrera was gushing with praise for Wayne Rooney after the England captain helped fire Manchester United to a 3-0 victory at Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Morgan Schneiderlin and Herrera had put the Red Devils 2-0 up before half-time at Goodison Park, and Rooney’s low finish secured the three points after the break.

Rooney’s goal moved him up to second in the Premier League’s all-time top scorer chart, with 187 strikes to his name.

And Herrera was full of praise for the United skipper in the wake of Saturday’s victory at Goodison Park.

Herrera told MUTV: “He did great work for us. He is very important for England and also for us.

“When you have your captain in good form, scoring goals and if he is happy then it is very important for us.

“He is our leader, the best English player in history, so we have to enjoy him and it is going to help us a lot.”

United now turn their attentions back to the Champions League and Wednesday night’s trip to CSKA Moscow.

The Red Devils then take on Premier League leaders and bitter local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford next Sunday afternoon.

United are currently third in the table and two points behind their neighbours in the top flight table.
