Ander Herrera has vowed to do his best to improve his game and earn a regular spot in Manchester United’s starting line-up.

The Spanish midfielder impressed on Saturday afternoon as he helped United record a 3-0 win at Everton by scoring a goal and notching up an assist for Louis van Gaal’s men.

Herrera has been limited to just three Premier League starts for the Red Devils so far this season but his performance against the Toffees suggests that he could be set for a regular run in Van Gaal’s first team.

And the 26-year-old has revealed his determination to help establish himself as one of United’s top performers in the wake of Saturday’s victory at Goodison Park.

“I have trained really hard in these two weeks,” Herrera told MUTV. “I wanted to play as soon as possible and the manager gave me the chance.

“I enjoyed the chance he gave to me and I want to keep helping the team. I am a team player and when I play I will do my best.

“I scored and got an assist, so I can enjoy. I am very happy. I want to be a top player and I have to play like this always. You want to always be in the team but this is Manchester United. You have to play really good if you want to be in the team every day, so that’s what I want to do.

“I think people are happy with me and they value me because I always try to give everything for the team. I am really proud because I am at Manchester United and I will try to do my best to establish myself in the first team.”

Herrera fired 100 per cent of his shots on target, created two chances for his team-mates and won 100 per cent of his tackles at Goodison Park, in an impressive display from the former Athletic Bilbao man.
