Ander Herrera: My message to Man United’s away fans
Ander Herrera admits that he would love to travel to an away game with Manchester United's fans in the future
Ander Herrera has insisted that he would jump at the chance to enjoy an away game in the stands with Manchester United’s fans should the opportunity ever present itself.
The Spanish playmaker has been in impressive form for the Red Devils in recent weeks and has scored two goals and made one assist in six Premier League games for Louis van Gaal’s men.
Herrera played the full 90 minutes as United were held to a goalless draw by local rivals Manchester City last weekend.
The 26-year-old will be hoping to feature when United travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
However, the midfielder admits that he would love to sample the atmosphere among the travelling United fans in the future.
Asked if he would attend an away game with supporters, Herrera told Inside United: “Yes, of course.
“I would like to go to one away game with the fans one day because our away fans are unbelievable. They are always singing and very noisy and they help us a lot. That is why I celebrate my goals with them because I have to say ‘thank you’ to them for supporting us.
“They travel around the world, they spend the money, they spend the time so I think we have to be very, very thankful.
“[When they chant my name] I feel really, really proud. When you know United’s history and that our fans have seen big players – George Best, Bobby Charlton, Eric Cantona, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney – when they sing your name it’s a very proud moment.”
United head into Saturday’s clash at Selhurst Park in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
