Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on Anthony Martial, describing the teenager’s impact at Manchester United as “incredible”.

The 19-year-old has been an instant hit at Old Trafford since his big-money transfer from Monaco on deadline day last month.

Martial has already netted four goals and notched up four assists for his team-mates to help the Red Devils move up to fourth place in the Premier League table.

The teenager was voted the Premier League player of the month for September after his sparkling start to his career at Old Trafford.

And Rooney has been thoroughly impressed by the French striker’s impact since arriving at United from the Ligue 1 side.

Rooney told United Review: “I think he has been incredible, how he has come over to Manchester and started the way he has.

“Let’s not forget he is still a very young lad as well. To come over with his young family and start the way he has, he deserves a lot of credit.

“You can see what a good player he is and he’ll be an important player for us from now until the end of the season. He is probably the quickest player in our team, if not the quickest in the league.”

Manchester United, who played out a goalless draw with Manchester City in Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford, return to Premier League action with a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils are two points behind leaders Manchester City.
