Player ratings as Arsenal's stunning first-half display sends them on their way to a 3-0 win over Manchester United

Petr Cech Made several vital contributions to keep a clean sheet and showed why you should always play your best goalkeeper. 7.5/10

Hector Bellerin The young right-back will become one of Europe’s finest – brilliant performance at the back. 8

Gabriel Paulista Proved why he deserves a place in the starting line-up. 7

Per Mertesacker Wasn’t a convincing display and his future as a regular starter is in doubt. 7

Nacho Monreal Has showed why he starts ahead of Gibbs – a great display from the left-back. 7

Francis Coquelin A vital contribution form the Frenchman as he added to the high tempo and tenacity. 8

Santi Cazorla Dominated in central midfield and was quick in the transition. 8

Aaron Ramsey Started the game on the right, covering plenty of ground. Had a great chance to score in the first half but overall was a solid display. 7

Mesut Ozil Was both the creator and finisher during the Gunners devastating opening spell. Was at the heart of every attack, showing great vision. 8

Alexis Sanchez Continues to deliver the goods for Arsenal with two superb finishes. 9

Theo Walcott Started ahead of Olivier Giroud and stretched the United defence at every opportunity. 8

Substitutes:

Olivier Giroud Replaced Walcott in the 75th minute and offered a different dimension to the Gunners attack. 6

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Replaced Ozil and provided an outlet down the right. Had the opportunity to score a fourth goal. 7

Kieran Gibbs Came on for an injured Sanchez in the 81st minute and covered the left side of midfield. 6

Manchester United

David De Gea Misjudged the cross which lead to Arsenal’s first goal but was out of his depth for the Gunners second and third goal. 5

Matteo Darmian Was left dizzy having to deal with Sanchez, feeble attempt to tackle teh Chilean resulted in Arsenal’s third goal. 3

Chris Smalling Eventually got his defence to work as a coherent unit towards the latter stages. 5

Daley Blind People will start to question his role at centre-back after this performance. 4

Ashley Young Left huge amounts of space down the left flank. Booked for the first-half lunge and was too often exposed. 4

Michael Carrick Was unable to control the midfield like he normally does, struggled to find passes and lack vision. 5

Bastian Schweinsteiger Played too high the pitch and was left wanting on the counter attack. Improved in the second half. 5

Juan Mata Was unusually quiet in the first half – appeared more of a spectator. 6

Memphis Depay An Ineffective display, losing the ball too often and too easily. Replaced at half-time. 5

Wayne Rooney Clumsy first half from the United skipper but never fails to track back and work hard for his team. 5

Anthony Martial United biggest attacking threat. Had the best chance to reduce the deficit before half time but his shot was saved by Cech. 6

Substitutes:

Antonio Valencia Replaced Darmian at half-time and did a far better job dealing with Sanchez. 5

Marouane Fellaini Replaced Depay and immediately improved United’s physical presence in the midfield. 6

James Wilson Came on for Mata in the remaining 10 minutes and had little time to make an impact. 5
