Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is disgrace and dishonest, says ex-Man United man
Johnny Giles slams the performance of Mesut Ozil in a 3-2 loss to Olympiacos
Johny Giles has warned Arsenal that they won’t win anything with Mesut Ozil in their team.
The German playmaker produced another forgettable display in their surprise 3-2 loss to Olympiacos at The Emirates in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
He hasn’t done anything for Arsenal at all. Arsenal won’t do anything if he is in the team
Ozil has made three assists in six Premier League games for the north London side, although the club-record signing failed to influence games against Chelsea and Liverpool.
Former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland international Giles wasn’t impressed with Ozil’s attitude in Arsenal’s latest shock result, urging Arsene Wenger to drop the German.
“It was an absolutely disgraceful display,” Giles told Newstalk’s Off The Ball show.
“He was totally dishonest in the way he played. Instead of making a genuine effort to win the ball back, he was giving silly free-kicks away. That is always the sign of a player who doesn’t want to make a real effort.
“He hasn’t done anything for Arsenal at all. Arsenal won’t do anything if he is in the team.”
Ozil has scored nine times in 53 Premier League games since his record move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in August 2013.
The World Cup winner has helped the Gunners win back-to-back FA Cups.
Wenger’s side face Premier League leaders Manchester United at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
