Philippe Coutinho scored a stunning equaliser on the stroke of half time to bring Liverpool back level against Chelsea and leave the matched finely poised at 1-1 heading into the second half.

The Reds fell behind in the fourth minute at Stamford Bridge when Cesar Azpilicueta was allowed time and space to cross from the left and Ramires duly headed the Spaniard’s cross home.

However, despite their early setback, Liverpool dominated possession for long spells, with Adam Lallana testing Asmir Begovic in the Chelsea goal.

And their pressure was rewarded deep into first-half stoppage time, when Coutinho swiveled on the edge of the box and curled a delightful shot past Begovic to haul his side level.

Coutinho’s stunning striker prompted plenty of praise on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates.
