Cesc Fabregas has insisted that Chelsea have what it takes to recover from their stuttering start to the season and retain their Premier League title.

The Blues are currently languishing in 15th place in the Premier League table after slumping to their fifth top-flight loss of the season at West Ham United last weekend.

Chelsea head into Saturday’s lunchtime clash with Liverpool 11 points behind leaders Manchester City and with their title defence seemingly in tatters.

However, Chelsea midfielder Fabregas is convinced that the west London side have what it takes to bounce back from their poor run of results and climb back up the table.

Asked if Chelsea can still retain their title, Fabregas told Match of the Day Magazine: “I’m sure we can.

“We just have to get our confidence back, win a few games on the trot and from there we’ll see what happens. In the Premier League anyone can lose points to anyone.”

Chelsea were dumped out of the League Cup on penalties by Stoke City on Tuesday night to leave Jose Mourinho’s men having lost eight of their 16 games in all competition heading into their clash with Liverpool in west London.
