Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: Why I’m happy with Eden Hazard
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho discusses Eden Hazard's form ahead of Liverpool clash
Jose Mourinho says he was happy with Eden Hazard’s performance in Chelsea’s defeat by Stoke City in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
The west London side crashed out of the competition at the fourth-round stage after a 5-4 defeat in the penalty shootout following the Belgium international’s spot-kick miss.
Hazard was restored to the Chelsea line-up for their last three games after the reigning PFA player of the year had been dropped by Mourinho following a poor start to the season.
But the Chelsea manager insisted that he was pleased with the 23-year-old’s reaction to being left out of Mourinho’s first-team.
“He tried everything in the last game. He had a positive game. He played for two hours,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference.
“I’m happy with his performance against Stoke. I was happy with his performance against Dynamo Kyiv.
“He was on the bench for a couple of match before that because I felt it was the best thing for him. I pleased with his reaction from that.”
Hazard has made two assists in 10 Premier League appearances for the defending champions this season.
However, the Belgian forward is still waiting to score his first goal after he netted 16 times in their title-winning campaign last term.
