Radamel Falcao has described under-fire Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as a “winner”.

The defending Premier League champions slumped to a 3-1 defeat by Southampton at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League last Saturday.

The Blues are in 16th place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind leaders Manchester City, who were 6-1 winners against Newcastle United.

However, Falcao, who joined the west London side on a free transfer from Monaco in the summer, is confident the Blues can turnaround their stalling season.

“Mourinho’s a great coach. He is ambitious and a winner,” Falcao is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“He has great skills to train us but results have not helped us.

“We have the quality and skills to change this and reverse the situation. I’m still fully motivated.

“My moment will come. I’m fine, I’m improving and increasingly I feel better.”

Falcao has scored one goal in seven Premier League games, although the Colombian has only started one top-flight games this term.

The South American endured a miserable season-long loan spell at Manchester United last term, scoring four goals in 26 Premier League appearances.
