Chelsea transfers: Glenn Hoddle issues Eden Hazard warning
Glenn Hoddle warns Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to be careful how he treats Eden Hazard
Jose Mourinho must be careful with Chelsea forward Eden Hazard amid reported interest from Real Madrid, according to Glenn Hoddle.
The Belgium international was restored to the Chelsea line-up for their goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv after the PFA player of the year was dropped for their 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports in France, Hazard is interested in a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, with his former Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez currently in charge at The Bernabeu.
And former Blues manager Hoddle warned Mourinho that the defending Premier League champions can’t afford to lose their star man after a poor start to the season.
“Mourinho has to be careful with Hazard and how he deals with him off the pitch,” Hoddle told ITV Sport.
“If he does get too disgruntled, you could see him leaving Chelsea or wanting to leave Chelsea. Chelsea need him and the Premier League needs him.”
Hazard, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Ligue 1 side Lille in 2012, hasn’t scored in eight Premier League games for the defending English champions this term.
The Blues forward scored 16 times in 34 games in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign last season.
