Reports in the media claimed that Mourinho’s visit to the Ukraine last week was to enable the Portuguese coach to keep tabs on Yarmolenko, who has been touted as a possible target for the west London club.
However, when quizzed about the speculation during a news conference on Monday afternoon, Mourinho moved to play down talk of a possible swoop for the forward.
Mourinho said: “Of course I wasn’t looking at [other] players. We cannot make a collection of wingers.”
Chelsea are set to come up against Yarmolenko when they take on Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night.
The Blues head into the game looking to return to winning ways in the Champions League after their 2-1 loss to FC Porto in their most recent outing.
The west London side returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
