Gabriel Paulista says that he is confident of making history with Arsenal by winning some of European football’s biggest competitions.

The Brazilian defender has been a regular fixture in the Gunners’ first-team this season following his transfer to the north London club from Villarreal back in January.

And the centre-half is determined to help Arsene Wenger’s men write their names into the history books in the coming seasons.

Gabriel told Arsenal Player: “On the first day I arrived here I felt something special. In reality, I think I always wanted to achieve the most important goals in the world and in the biggest competitions.

“When I got here, I saw that Arsenal have the ability to do it. We have great players to win the biggest competitions. I’m sure that me, my team-mates and everyone that works here will make history.

“I will have my name remembered here for my son and your sons to see that we won the Champions League, the Premier League, the best competitions, because Arsenal are capable of doing it.”

The defender will be hoping to feature when Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to Watford on Saturday evening.

Gabriel hit the headlines back in September after he was controversially sent off during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The north London side are looking to build on their 3-0 win over Manchester United at Emirates Stadium before the international break, a victory which left Wenger’s men second in the table and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
