Jamie Carragher reveals Jurgen Klopp’s ‘biggest problem’ at Liverpool
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says Jurgen Klopp's Reds are lacking width
Jamie Carragher says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp needs to sign wingers in the January transfer market.
The Reds were denied a first Premier League win of the season after Saido Mane cancelled out Christian Benteke’s opener with four minutes remaining at Anfield on Sunday evening.
They have no wide players – that’s the problem with the squad now. Maybe he will address that in January or the summer
The Merseyside outfit managed to create just two shots on target despite the home side having a staggering 61 per cent possession against Ronald Koeman’s side.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher believes Klopp has too many No10s in the squad but the German lacks natural wide players, which is an area the Sky Sports pundits reckons the 48-year-old manager will address in January or next summer.
Carragher told Sky Sports: “There still aren’t enough chances being created. But that isn’t something you can just look at Jurgen Klopp about. You have to look at the make-up of the squad.
Carragher continued: “They have an abundance of No10s. How they thought they were going to fit them all in. They have Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana.
“But they have no wide players – that’s the problem with the squad now. Maybe he will address that in January or the summer.”
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fiorentina star Mario Suarez and former Reds midfielder Nuri Sahin in recent weeks.
The 18-time English champions signed eight players in the summer transfer window, including goal-scorer Benteke in a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa.
