Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil after the German’s performance in a 2-1 win against Everton at The Emirates on Saturday.

The World Cup winner made his fifth assist in six games in all competitions to tee up Olivier Giroud to break the deadlock against the Toffees in north London.

Ozil scored Arsenal’s second in a 2-0 win against Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich in the north London side’s must-win Champions League group-stage game mid-week.

Former Liverpool and Totteham Hotspur captain Redknapp reckons Ozil is looking hungry for success this season after the Germany international’s impressive run of form.

“He’s in such great form,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “He looked hungry. That’s what the questions have been about – does he want it enough? Does he care? But he was exceptional [against Everton].”

Ozil has scored two goals and has made eight assists in 12 games in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men this term.

The Germany playmaker moved to Arsenal in a club-record £42.5m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in 2013.
