Jan Vertonghen says Tottenham Hotspur can cope with the current injury crisis at White Hart Lane.

Belgium international Nacer Chadli has been ruled out of action for six weeks after the 26-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage in a goalless draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chadli joins Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason, Alex Pritchard and Heung-Min Son on the injury list ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Anderlecht in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night.

But Tottenham centre-half Vertonghen backed the other members of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad to step up in the absence of key players for the north London side.

“Once you’re in the flow it’s just nice to keep playing the games,” Vertonghen told Sky Sports News HQ. “You get a rest in between.

“We have a big squad, we have enough players who can play. We have a couple of injuries now but I think our squad is big enough to face the games.

“It’s been very busy the last couple of weeks, but that’s what we want. We just want games to stay in the flow we are in now. I think we are doing very well and we want to keep it up in Europe and the Premier League. Hopefully we can win both games this week.”

Tottenham are in seventh place in the Premier League table after their goalless stalemate with Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
