Jan Vertonghen has backed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to rediscover his goal-scoring form.

The England international has scored one goal in eight Premier League games for the north London side in 2014/15 campaign.

Kane was named PFA young player of the year after Spurs forward scored 21 times in 34 Premier League games last term.

Spurs defender Vertonghen believes Kane is capable of blossoming into one of the Premier League’s best players.

“All eyes are on him in our team. We are helping him to get the same or even more goals for this season as he did last time,” Vertonghen is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.

“Defenders are on him and he knows that. He is a smart guy, is a professional and works hard. The goals will come.

“I’m convinced he is going to be one of the best players in the Premier League one day and maybe the best. Harry is always there and will always score goals.”

The England forward netted 31 goals in 51 games in all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance in his breakthrough season at the north London club.

However, 22-year-old Kane has only scored one goal in the Premier League this season, netting in a 4-1 victory over Manchester City at White Hart Lane last month.
