Joachim Low: Jurgen Klopp good fit for Liverpool
Germany manager Joachim Low runs rule over Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool announcement
Joachim Low says Jurgen Klopp would be a good fit for Liverpool.
Former AC Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti ruled himself out of the running on Tuesday evening, making Klopp is the clear favourite to become the next Liverpool manager.
He released a lot of emotion among the supporters at Dortmund and there are strong parelells at Liverpool. I think that it is a good fit
The former Borussia Dortmund manager is the favourite to succeed Brendan Rodgers in the Anfield role after Liverpool sacked the Northern Irishman following a 1-1 draw with Everton in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
Germany manager Low explained why he believes 48-year-old Klopp would be a good option for the five-time European champions.
“I wouldn’t know how negotiations are progressing but if the deal can be done then it will be good for both parties,” Low told Sky Sports.
“Mr Klopp was hugely successful when he was manager of Dortmund.
“He released a lot of emotion among the supporters at Dortmund and there are strong parelells at Liverpool. I think that it is a good fit.”
Klopp took Dortmund to six in his first season in 2009, led them into the Europa League the next year and then, with a squad full of exciting young talent, oversaw league title wins in 2010-11 and 2011-12, adding the German Cup in the latter campaign.
He earned even greater admiration in the 2012-13 season as he steered Dortmund all the way to the Champions League final at Wembley, where they lost to Bayern Munich. Dortmund reached another domestic cup final in 2014, but again came up short against Bayern.
