Liverpool 1 Sion 1: Player ratings as Adam Lallana impresses

Player ratings as Adam Lallana can't inspire Liverpool to victory

Simon Mignolet Handling was decent but found himself beaten through his legs for Sion’s goal. Did make a good save at close range later from goalscorer Assifuah. 6/10

Joe Gomez Marked his man too tightly allowing him to be turned easily. Seemed to find it hard to adjust to being part of a three-man defence. 5

Emre Can Would evidently prefer to be playing in midfield. Likes to run with the ball and looked quite threatening to the Sion defence when he did. Dived into a tackle for which he was fortunate to escape a booking. 7

Kolo Toure Steady performance from the veteran. Even managed to hit the bar with a looping overhead kick! 6

Nathaniel Clyne Gave the ball away needlessly three times in the first half including the occasion which saw his side concede. Subbed at half-time possibly with the Merseyside derby in mind. 4

Jordan Rossiter Neat and tidy from the youngster but it’s hard to see where the Steven Gerrard comparisons come from. Needs to get down the gym and build his upper body strength if he’s to make it to the top of the game. 6

Adam Lallana Probably the best player on the pitch apart from the Sion goalkeeper. His game is more suited to European football and it showed tonight. A very calm side-footed finish for his eighth Liverpool goal although he missed a wonderful chance for a second. 7

Joe Allen Played one defence splitting ball for Origi but was fairly anonymous otherwise. Liverpool supporters are losing patience with the Welshman and tonight’s display wouldn’t have done much to impress them. 5

Danny Ings Fantastic touch to create himself a chance but should have squared it rather than shooting from such an acute angle. On the day of his England call-up, he was busy as usual but couldn’t get on the scoresheet. Subbed on the hour. 6

Jordon Ibe Switched to right wing after playing the first-half on the left. Couldn’t impact the game in either position, however. 5

Divock Origi Started really well with a bulldozing run through the Sion defence to set up Lallana for the goal. Made another aggressive run on the hour mark but then missed a guilt-edged chance when he raced on to Allen’s through ball. 6

Substitutes

Alberto Moreno A pretty dogged performance three days after his dog allegedly savaged a neighbour. Booked. 5

Philippe Coutinho Played a lovely weighted pass through the defence to Origi which nearly produced a winning goal. 6
