Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp makes Premier League title promise
Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will have won a Premier League title if he is sitting in Anfield hot seat in four years
Jurgen Klopp has promised Liverpool supporters that he will deliver a Premier League title in the next four years.
The 48-year-old German signed a three-year contract with the 18-time English champions on Thursday evening, becoming their eighth manager in the Premier League era.
We have to change from doubters to believers
None of Klopp’s predecessors have managed to deliver the Premier League crown despite Rafael Benitez and the German’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers leading the Reds to second-place finishes.
Speaking at this unveiling at Anfield on Friday morning, the new Liverpool manager guaranteed that the five-time European champions will have won the Premier League if he is still in charge in 2019.
“”I ask, please give us time,” Klopp said.
“If you are patient and are prepared to work, in a special Liverpool way we can be successful. If I am sitting here in four years, we will win one title in this time.”
Klopp added that the Premier League is one of the most competitive divisions in world football, insisting that Liverpool must focus on making progress and believing again.
“The Premier League is one of the most difficult leagues in the world. Only one can be the champion but five, six or seven clubs could be. We have to develop,” Klopp added.
“This is a good moment. It is not important who is the winner of the Premier League, only that we play our own game and feel the confidence and trust of the people. We have to change from doubters to believers.”
Liverpool are in tenth place and six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after a 1-1 draw with Everton in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
