Jurgen Klopp told his Liverpool team to play with “passion and no fear” ahead of their goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Divock Origi has revealed.

The Reds started brightly at White Hart Lane but were held to a draw by Spurs as Klopp’s first game in charge of the Merseyside outfit ended all square.

Klopp is now gearing up for his first taste of the Anfield atmosphere as Liverpool manager as the Reds prepare to host Rubin Kazan in the Europa League on Thursday night.

And Origi has lifted the lid on how Klopp has been trying to motivate his players since his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield earlier this month.

Origi told Liverpool’s website: “[Klopp told us] just to play with passion and no fear. He believes in everybody – the young players, the old players, we’re all here because we have quality,.

“We just have to work hard and trust him, and we all trust him so I think we can have a good season.

“When you look at the coach, he sends out a very strong feeling, a very powerful feeling. You can see it through the team.

“[Against Spurs] we had a lot of energy, we pressed, we played with a lot of joy.

“We are a very strong together as a club with the fans also, it’s a very nice thing.”

Saturday’s draw left Liverpool in 10th place in the Premier League table after having taken 13 points from their opening nine games.

The Reds host Southampton at Anfield when they return to top-flight action on Sunday, before a trip to Chelsea at the end of the month.
