Liverpool transfers: Barcelona talk up Philippe Coutinho link
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez reveals his admiration for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has fuelled the speculation linking the Spanish club with a transfer swoop for Philippe Coutinho by admitting that he is a keen admirer of the Liverpool playmaker.
The Catalan club have been touted as a possible destination for the Brazilian in recent days as they consider bolstering their attacking options at Camp Nou.
Coutinho has been a regular fixture in Liverpool’s first team since arriving at the Merseyside club from Inter Milan back in January 2013.
Now, Ferdnandez has admitted that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s development at the Anfield club, although he refused to confirm that the club are definitely keen on signing the player.
Fernandez told Cadena SER: “He’s a great player with fantastic attributes, but we’re also keeping an eye on other players.”
Coutinho will be expecting to feature when Liverpool return to Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane after the international break.
The 23-year-old has made seven Premier League starts for the Reds so far this season.
