Louis van Gaal: Why I’m very satisfied with Man United star Marcos Rojo
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal discusses Marcos Rojo's derby performance
Louis van Gaal says he was very satisfied with Marcos Rojo’s performance in Manchester United’s goalless draw with Manchester City.
The Argentina international was tasted with keeping tabs on £55m summer signing Kevin De Bruyne and Spain international Jesus Navas in Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.
Rojo has been moved out to left-back in United’s last three games following injury to England internationals Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in recent months.
And United manager Van Gaal was impressed with the South American’s performance after limiting the impact of De Bruyne and Navas in the derby stalemate.
“Rojo played a very good match, not only against De Bruyne but also against Jesus Navas,” Van Gaal told Sky Sports.
“He had very good passes and very good crosses so I am very satisfied with him.
“It is only his third game this season; he has hardly played for 90 minutes. I am very happy that at last he has the condition to play a full match.”
The 20-time English champions face Crystal Palace in Selhurst Park next weekend.
Rojo moved to United from Sporting Lisbon in a £16m deal in 2014 after last summer’s World Cup.
The United defender has made one assist in three Premier League games this term.
