Man United saw best and worst of Chris Smalling, claims Roy Keane
The former Man United captain isn't impressed with Chris Smalling's defending for Wolfsburg's opener
Manchester United saw the best and the worst of Chris Smalling on Wednesday night, according to Roy Keane.
The England international was partly at fault for Wolfsburg opener in United’s 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in the Champions League group stage.
However, the United centre-half made amends with his 52nd-minute winner and a couple of vital clearances to protect the hosts’s slender lead against the Wolves.
Former Red Devils captain Keane couldn’t believe Smalling’s decision-making for the first goal after Daniel Caligiuri slipped past the United defence and scored.
“I’d like to ask Smalling: what were you thinking?” Keane told ITV Sport.
“I think we saw the best and the worst of Smalling with the winning goal and a couple of important headers.
“But what is he thinking for the first goal?”
