Man United star Juan Mata sends message to Chelsea fans after poor start
Juan Mata sends message of support to Chelsea amid the Blues' stuttering form
Juan Mata is backing Chelsea to bounce back from their stuttering start to the season by turning around their poor form in the coming weeks.
Jose Mourinho has found himself in the unusual position of being under pressure after his Chelsea side slumped to their fifth defeat of the season against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
That defeat left Chelsea 10 points behind leaders Manchester City heading into the forthcoming international break, with their title defence in tatters.
Mata was deemed surplus to requirements by manager Mourinho and was subsequently sold to Manchester United in January 2014.
However, the Spaniard insists that he has no hard feelings towards the west London club and has sent a message of support to his former employers.
When asked about the situation at Chelsea, Mata told Spanish newspaper AS: “I will always wish them the best because I am extremely grateful for the time I spent there and nothing else.”
Mata was unable to prevent Manchester United from slumping to a 3-0 defeat by Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
