Man United starlet Anthony Martial praised by France boss
Didier Deschamps has been impressed by what he has seen from the Manchester United teenager
Didier Deschamps has heaped praise on Anthony Martial after the Manchester United teenager’s impressive performance in France’s 2-1 win over Denmark on Sunday.
The 19-year-old marked his full international debut with an accomplished display as he earned plenty of praise for his performance on the wide left.
Martial looks on course to receive a call-up to France’s squad for next summer’s Euro 2016 tournament on home soil.
And Deschamps has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from the teenager in a France shirt in recent weeks.
Deschamps told his post-match news conference: “I think Martial is best suited as a lone striker.
“Even though he also played on the left flank in Monaco. Anthony has the capacity to play in both roles. He has quality with his pace and his ability to go past the opponent and that brings a bit of variety to our game.
“It was a good performance from him, a very interesting one with a lot of play in terms of movement and take-ons [beating opponents]. He still has a few things to improve upon but he created very interesting situations for us.”
Martial has enjoyed a sparkling start to his United career since his big-money transfer from Monaco on deadline day last month.
The 19-year-old striker has already scored four goals for his new club and announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful with a stunning strike in the 3-1 win over Liverpool last month.
United travel to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
