Man United transfers: Insider claims Real Madrid still want David De Gea
Guillem Balague says Real Madrid have not ended their interest in signing David De Gea from Manchester United
Real Madrid are still keen on signing David De Gea from Manchester United despite their failed attempts to land the goalkeeper in the summer, according to Guillem Balague.
De Gea looked to be heading to Real Madrid in September after the two clubs agreed a fee for the transfer of the Spanish shot-stopper.
However, the move fell through at the last minute after the necessary paperwork was not submitted in time before the transfer deadline.
The goalkeeper has since signed a new contract with United – however, Spanish football expert Balague does not believe that Madrid will have ended their interest in signing the shot-stopper.
Balague said in a Twitter Q&A with Sky Sports: “Real Madrid don’t make decisions in terms of big signings based on sporting reasons, it is mainly down to business plans.
“De Gea fits the business plan of having a superstar in goal instead of Keylor Navas who is very good. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they go back for De Gea.”
The 24-year-old De Gea has started six of United’s 10 Premier League games this season and kept a clean sheet in the goalless draw with Manchester City at the weekend.
The Red Devils travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
