Mesut Ozil fires warning at Man United ahead of Arsenal clash
Mesut Ozil says Arsenal are out to prove a point against Manchester United on Sunday
Mesut Ozil has warned Manchester United that Arsenal are out to prove a point when they host the Red Devils at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners head into this weekend’s clash on the back of their disappointing 3-2 loss to Olympiacos in the Champions League at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Arsene Wenger’s men beat Leicester City 5-2 in the Premier League last weekend after slumping to a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before that.
Arsenal were reduced to nine men against the Blues and also had Olivier Giroud sent off during the 2-1 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb last month.
Arsenal playmaker Ozil feels that the Gunners have been unfortunate to be punished by referees in recent weeks – and the German World Cup winner is confident that the north London side will prove themselves against Louis van Gaal’s Premier League leaders.
Ozil told Arsenal Player: “The anticipation and the expectation is obviously big. We just want to prove ourselves and get the three points.
“When you prove yourself against big teams, your self-belief increases because you believe in yourself more.
“If you look at our team, in the last few weeks we’ve been weakened by red cards. But if we can prevent that, I’m convinced that we can do well against big teams.
“We’ll show that against Manchester United.”
