Mesut Ozil believes that his good form for Arsenal this season is down to him having enjoyed a proper pre-season training regime.

The Germany playmaker has been one of the north London club’s standout performers this term and has been a regular fixture in Arsene Wenger’s first team.

The 27-year-old has already made seven assists and scored one goal in nine Premier League appearances for the Gunners to help the north London side up to second place in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.

And the World Cup winner feels that he is now reaping the rewards of a full pre-season in the build-up to the 2015-16 campaign.

Ozil told Arsenal Player: “The coaching staff know exactly how individual players become fit. They have all the information and I think a first full pre-season in a long time has helped me to feel really fit.

“Before, I was playing at tournaments after a long season and had little time for holidays.

“In hindsight, you realise that your body may not have the same freshness. At the moment I feel very comfortable, I’m fit and that’s what is important.”

Ozil will be expecting to feature when Arsenal take on Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners head into the game on the back of their 2-1 win over Everton in the top flight at Emirates Stadium last weekend, with Ozil setting up Olivier Giroud’s opener.
